Dr. Brenda Dressler is an experienced educator, with a passion for using innovative ideas to create learning experiences aimed at improving sexual health for all ages, from young children to older adults.
Utilizing her expertise in leadership, curriculum development and instruction and designing professional development for teachers, she provides lively and informative presentations that are designed to engage all participants including parents, teachers and school administrators.
Topics are sexuality and seniors, sexuality and disability prevention workshops for HIV/AIDS, sexual harassment, child sexual abuse, child abduction and molestation, and a prevention and intervention training on harassment, bullying, cyberbullying, and discrimination for school staff and parents.
Dr. Dressler traveled to Uganda to teach HIV/AIDS prevention education at Kampala University, to nurses working in treatment centers, and to students in primary and secondary schools.
She presented on child sexual abuse prevention at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. During the summers, Dr. Dressler is a visiting professor/consultant at Touro College in New York City. Several presentations are scheduled in Boynton Beach, Florida and are listed in the Events section.
Meet Dr. Dressler
An educator for fifty years, she is published in numerous journals. Dr. Dressler wrote several articles to assist parents in teaching their children about sexuality. She wrote seven chapters on HIV/AIDS prevention education in seven books published in 2000 that are in schools in 48 states.
As Queens Comprehensive Health Coordinator, she wrote curricula on sex education and prevention education of HIV/AIDS and child sexual abuse She was awarded ten research grants reflecting her passion to support teachers and students from diverse backgrounds.
Under her leadership as Regional Liaison of the Task Force for Quality Inclusive Schools, a book, “Supporting Inclusive Schools” was produced that are being used in 1450 public schools and by faculty in colleges in New York City and are also used by school systems and college faculty in Albany, Buffalo and Rochester.
